These "Tech Notes" are intended to provide a brief overview on some topics often needed in the electrical field in contracting, maintenance and engineering. Some of the information provided is based on experience, some on technical references and some on all available resources including the web. The most important idea in presenting these articles is to provide key information in an easy access format. There is entirely too much information available for a busy person to filter through when only one missing piece of information is needed.
The articles are a quick reference which is intended to guide the reader in the proper direction for further research if needed. There is a balancing act between an overview article and a full technical dissertation on a given topic. For example, Tech Note 5 describes fan characteristics. There are lengthy and very theoretical papers written on fan types, fan impeller design and mounting, affinity laws and every piece of hardware related to moving air with a fan. Tech Note 5 condenses that into only two pages but the important ideas are included. Tech Note 5 does not have math but the affinity laws are complete in words in three sentences. Tech Notes 1, 3 & 7 are based on experiences and Tech Notes 4, 9, 13 & 19 are based on some engineering ideas.
These are living documents which should evolve through critical feedback. Your comments are welcome.
